The ground transport segment continues to be fragmented and, although there are advances, a seamless experience for travelers remains elusive.
A year ago there was enormous capital available for transportation companies, especially scooter and bike companies in the consumer world, but now that funding is harder to come by.
In the B2B world the situation is a little different, with some startups attracting significant rounds including Distribusion with €30 million in June.

Ground transportation platform Omio also attracted $80 million in the same month with the company saying it planned to grow its partnerships as part of the investment.
Aaron Gowell, co-founder and CEO of SilverRail Technologies and Johannes Thunert, co-founder and chief business officer of Distribusion, joined us in the PhocusWire Studio at The Phocuswright Conference to discuss funding as well as opportunities for the segment.
The discussion touches on how developments from companies such as Google with its sustainability goals and Uber with its super-app strategy will drive wider advances across the industry.
Sustainability is also in the spotlight and how ground transportation is at the forefront of debate as governments look to curb short-haul flying.
Finally, with "Travelers. Titans. Trailblazers" as the theme of the conference, Gowell and Thunert also discuss what they can learn from each other as an established company and a startup within the ecosystem.
