In what’s commonly referred to as “the Taylor Swift effect,” it’s become apparent in recent years that large events can directly impact consumers’ travel decisions.
Now AirAsia is hoping to capitalize on that trend by offering event ticket booking in its app, now branded as AirAsia MOVE.
In partnership with Dublin-based ticketing platform Coras, the app now gives users access to more than 10,000 global events and activities, which can be booked along with the necessary flights, hotels and ground transportation.
The platform, known as Movetix, is led by Hassan Choudhury, who will also remain in the role of CEO of RedRecords, a joint venture between AirAsia and Universal Music.

“Entertainment is an essential part of travel, and Hassan’s role in RedRecords and Movetix aligns perfectly with our commitment to deliver the best value in travel and to develop talents in Asean,” said Nadia Omer, CEO of AirAsia MOVE.
“Teaming up with the best of entertainment with Coras on our AirAsia MOVE platform will elevate the experience of our customers, while staying true to our brand proposition. With Movetix, our app users can now book their entire trip seamlessly, including flights, hotels and land transport through AirAsia ride, meals via the dine-in option, all within one single cohesive ecosystem.”
Coras is a global distribution platform that enables suppliers to pool their ticket inventory and lets online brands from any sector get real-time access. The company also works with Ryanair, Pegasus Airlines, Frontier Airlines and more.
“We’re excited to partner with AirAsia MOVE so that their customer base of over 15 million monthly active users can now buy tickets for the best theater, sports, live music and attractions across 67 cities and 20 countries,” said Mark McLaughlin, CEO of Coras.
“Southeast Asia is the next big growth market for live entertainment, and we're delighted to play a part in this development.”
