A lot of investment has flowed into travel startups from Asia Pacific in recent years - with the region rivaling its noisy counterpart in Silicon Valley.
There are, of course, merits to backing companies that perhaps do not have to live in the attention of the U.S. startup bubble.
Plus there is the idea that the ideas (or the execution of them) coming out of APAC are better than those in the western hemisphere, or that their focus on a region with massive room for growth means they have a higher chance of success.
Either way, Fritz Demopoulos, founder of Queen's Road Capital, has been involved in various elements of the startup ecosystem, having founded Qunar and now backing ecommerce companies from his base in the region.
He recently appeared at Phocuswright Europe 2018, talking to our sister brand WebinTravel's Siew Hoon Yeoh about his views on the travel and wider tech marketplace.
