Vacation rental group Awaze has sold its Landal GreenParks unit to Roompot for an undisclosed sum.
Landal GreenParks has about 100 parks across Europe, including units in Belgium, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands.
Netherlands-based Roompot has more than 200 parks and holiday location in central and southern Europe.
Both Awaze, which operates the James Villas and Hoseasons brands, and Roompot are private equity-owned.
Awaze was formed when Platinum Equity acquired Wyndham Vacations European arm in 2018, while Roompot was acquired by KKR in 2020 in a deal reported to be worth €1 billion from another equity firm, PAI Partners.
Awaze has been boosting its vacation homes portfolio recently, with acquisitions in the U.K. and Europe, adding about 1,000 homes to the group.
Henrik Kjellberg, CEO of Awaze, said at the time that the companies focus was on homes in rural areas.
The company also recently sold city-focused Friendly Rentals to Cosi Group, a hospitality startup.
Of the Landal GreenParks sale, Kjellberg says: “This transaction provides Landal the right home for the future where they can continue to build an amazing experience for guests for the long term. At Awaze, we will continue building out Europe’s leading vacation rental management company, investing in our technology platform and upgrading the experience for our owners and guests.”
Malik Vorderwuelbecke, managing director at Platinum Equity, adds: ”The managed properties category remains highly fragmented and there are significant opportunities to continue expanding the Awaze portfolio through targeted M&A in key geographies. The business has a lot of runway for continued growth.”
