The global COVID-19 pandemic gave a new lease of life to the decades-old RV trip.
As thousands of air routes remained shut down but lockdowns eased around the world, travelers took to the road as they started exploring both their domestic markets and near-neighbors.
The RV booking market was already starting to evolve pre-pandemic, with numerous brands appearing on the scene, many taking a leaf out of the Airbnb model with a vehicle-sharing by owners.
But there is a sense by some that the uptick in road trips that took place in 2020 and 2021 is here to stay, with the mechanisms in place to find and booking vehicles far more robust than they were just a few years ago.
In short: despite it still being a fairly niche product that has growth potential, the market is professionalizing.
