Will there be a greater divide between traveler "haves" and "have nots"? Just as the new global traveler was crossing borders and exploring new cultures, travel stopped.
Now, with vaccines mostly earmarked for affluent nations and economic burdens taking their toll, there is concern that too many may be left out of the recovery.
How do we stop it in its tracks?
An interview with Rohit Talwar, CEO of Fast Future, for PhocusWire's New Reality with... series in the summer of 2000 explored how the recovery of the travel industry is already creating a two-tier society.
Issues range from those that do not have the ability to travel from a vaccination perspective to, in particular, those that do not have the money to resume the same types of trips that they took pre-pandemic.
The reality of how the traveler base will develop during the recovery and in the long term is a lot more nuanced than these examples, as Talwar explains in this interview with PhocusWire's Kevin May during the Phocuswright Europe event in June.
