Alternative accommodation had a break-out year in 2020, as travelers opted for properties that were away from other people and hotel staff.
Hotels are coming back and perhaps the balance between the two sectors will eventually return to pre-pandemic levels, meaning that 2022 will be an important year for management companies and owners.
In other words: try and maintain the course and see where travelers put their money next.
But it's a sector that isn't without some challenges of its own, with tech connectivity and services still needed to reassure travelers that they can stay safely but also enjoy the amenities that they have come to expect from their accommodation providers.
Vered Raviv Schwarz, chief operating officer at Guesty, joined us in the PhocusWire Studio at The Phocuswright Conference 2021 to discuss these trends and where some of the opportunities and hurdles remain in the market.
