Indian travel community HolidayIQ has responded to a big lift in mobile traffic by buying the travel mobile development team from SourceN.
SourceN, based in Bangalore India and Silicon Valley USA, is a specialist firm which designs apps for iOS, Android and Windows.
The travel sector clients listed on its website include: HolidayIQ itself, Indian OTA Cleartrip; Travelmob, a Singapore-based private home rental site owned by HomeAway; and TaxiForSure.
HolidayIQ said that now more than 65% of user activity on its site is via mobile devices, with a big shift towards mobile happening over the past few months where use of its app has increased by more than 250%
Hari Nair, founder and CEO of HolidayIQ, said that SourceN would bring"in-depth understanding of mobile consumer behaviour in travel" and that one project on its to do list will be to work on "a more robust engine enabling easier and seamless sharing of travel reviews, ratings, images and video on mobile."
He also said that HolidayIQ will "continue to make investments in strengthening our mobile capability."
Its Andriod app the second highest rated and ranked in Play Store, second only to the Indian railways app.
Terms of the SourceN deal have not been disclosed.
