Grab, the Singapore-based super app
that has been steadily adding new services since its launch as a ride-hailing
app in 2012, will now offer booking of tours and activities through an
integration with Hong Kong-based Klook.
Grab users will use a new “Attractions”
tile in the app to search through Klook’s catalog of more than 100,000
attractions, tours, activities and food and beverage outlets.
Digital tickets for the experiences
are booked in the Grab app, with payment through GrabPay and loyalty points
earned through GrabRewards.
“The pandemic has hit the tourism sector hard and made
travel difficult, but we know that many Southeast Asians still harbor a deep-rooted
desire to explore and discover new adventures, no matter near or far from home,”
says Jerald Singh, chief product officer and head of geo at Grab.
“Our partnership with Klook gives our users the best way to
uncover new experiences locally, which we also hope will drive more support
towards businesses that depend on tourism. Full recovery is a long way away,
but we look forward to playing our part to hasten the journey by working
together with like-minded partners like Klook.”
Klook says the “Attractions” tile will get new features in
the coming months, including a “wish list” function, the ability to leave
reviews and integration with other Grab services.
Last year Grab added partnerships
with Booking.com and Agoda to offer hotel bookings.
