Travel marketplace and technology platform Mondee has acquired Brazil-based travel provider Orinter in a transaction valued at $40 million.
Mondee, which went public via special purpose acquisition company in July 2022, sees Brazil as a "natural expansion opportunity" building on its existing presence in North America.
The acquisition of Orinter, which is a B2B specialist in the hotel and ground transportation markets, opens up Brazil's domestic and outbound markets to Mondee and gives the company access to direct relationships with hotels in Latin America.

Mondee will also offer Orinter travel content through its 50,000-strong travel affiliates and its 125 million closed group members.
Prasad Gundumogula, chairman and CEO of Mondee, says: "We are thrilled to be welcoming Orinter’s seasoned management team into the Mondee family and to kick-start our 2023 M&A activity by acquiring such a complementary and synergistic business that expands Mondee's geographic footprint and hotel product, while adding expert-backed experiential content.”
Mondee announced its acquisition of business travel solution Rocketrip for an undisclosed sum in September 2020.
