The word personalization and the concept of one-to-one marketing have been talked about in the travel industry for a long time.
While there has been progress in how customers are targeted, many believe the industry is not there yet and many question whether it’s even possible given the infrequency of travel, especially in leisure.
Companies such as Facebook and Google are arguably in a better position to pursue personalization given the vast amount of data they sit on.
This was the basis of a session at last month’s Phocuswright Conference in Florida, where an executive panel discussed developments in personalization as well as related privacy issues.
