Sustainable travel coalition Travalyst has unveiled an aviation sustainability framework to collect and display flight emissions data.
The not-for-profit organization, founded by the Duke of Sussex in 2019, says its coalition of six brands are aligned on the shared framework, meaning consumers will be able to easily find information on flights with the lowest emissions.
Skyscanner and Google will be first to implement the aviation sustainability framework across their platforms with other coalition members Booking.com, Trip.com Group and Tripadvisor to roll them out later.
Sally Davey, CEO of Travalyst, says: “We know that one of the barriers to consumers making better choices is a lack of visibility and overly complicated information, leading to confusion. By delivering clear and consistent tools for collecting and reporting airline data, we are helping travelers and the industry to make more informed - and lower emitting - air travel choices.

"It is hugely significant that our partners have reached agreement on this framework and will be using the same data across all of their platforms.”
Alongside the implementation of the framework, Google has published a Travel Impact Model for emissions estimates and will act as a technology provider to help other platforms display carbon estimates.
Google joined Travalyst last year and also unveiled sustainability initiatives including an eco-certified badge for hotels, meetings standards from independent organizations such as Green Key or EarthCheck.
