TravelX, one of PhocusWire’s
Hot 25 Travel Startups for 2023, is creating a blockchain-based
distribution and retailing infrastructure for the travel industry, to boost
security, transparency and efficiency.
The company launched in 2021 and is led by CEO Juan Pablo
Lafosse, who previously was founder and CEO of Argentina-based online travel
company Almundo – which he sold in 2020 – and prior to that was chief commercial
officer at Aerolíneas Argentinas.
TravelX says its technology allows airlines to more
efficiently manage their inventory and tokenize it into non-fungible tokens
(NFTs), creating opportunities to give travelers more flexibility and suppliers
more revenue.
At The Phocuswright Conference, TravelX chief officer of
travel supply, Erika Moore, discusses the
company’s value proposition and why it is using blockchain as the foundation of
its solution.
Moore also explains how airlines of all types can use
TravelX’s technology and why she expects interest to grow rapidly.
