Uber is moving closer to becoming a super app by launching a new product that allows users to book experiences such as dinner reservations and live events.
Called Uber Explore, the app function lets riders see places recommended to them in categories including food and drink, art and culture, nightlife and music and shows. Recommendations are based on past use of the Uber and Uber Eats apps.
For each experience, riders can see reviews, photos and directions and can select to “ride there now” with the tap of a button. Experiences are paid for via a rider’s Uber Wallet & Payment profile.

Uber Explore will also surface offers, and for top restaurants and bars, riders get 15% off rides up to $10.
According to TechCrunch, the first version of Uber Explore is integrated with Yelp as well as New Zealand-based demand intelligence platform PredictHQ.
Uber Explore is live in 14 cities across the United States as well as in Mexico City.
Uber says it plans to expand the product to more cities in the coming weeks and months.
In the fourth quarter of 2021, Uber revenue jumped 83% and its delivery unit reached adjusted EBITDA profitability as the ride-hail company continues to rebound from the pandemic.
