WeTravel, a startup that helps groups, semi-professionals and travel companies organise trips and collect payment, has raised $2 million in seed funding.
The round comes from investors including the House Fund, 500 startups, Amino Capital and TubeMogul former CEO Brett Wilson, who joins WeTravel's board.
WeTravel says funds will go towards building out its platform further and expansion. The company is opening a new office in Europe.
The company (startup pitch here) recently pivoted slightly to include travel companies and enables them to set up booking pages for customers and accept payments.
WeTravel says that it is with travel companies that the company is seeing the largest growth currently. It adds that $15 million was transacted on the site last year.
The company says that group payments is a huge trend currently as it remains unsolved especially in travel.
It points to Airbnb's move to enable split payments for group travel which was trialled last year and rolled out in November.
