The online travel agency landscape, according to some, is dominated by just a handful of players.
But the reality is that there are many other brands, each working hard to remain relevant to their audiences and figure out the best way to capture new users.
Yet as all these OTAs jockey for position against one another, brands on the outside are eyeing the opportunities.
So as such disruptive forces (Google, Facebook et al) circle the industry, open source systems are being developed to help the ecosystem.
Couple these with tools and techniques to boost traffic acquisition, drive marketing costs down and convert customers, and the OTA landscape should be able to work as efficiently as it can in the face of outside threats.
