Aditi Mohapatra, vice president, Global Social Impact and Sustainability at Expedia Group, said the company launched the fund to help because it believes travel is a transformative practice that can change perspective and also serve as a driving economic force.
“We have a vision to power travel for everyone, everywhere, and through these grants Expedia is able to invest in a diverse group of organizations that are doing impactful work to increase equity and access to travel in their communities,” Mohapatra said.
The fund, which is accepting applications and will grant awards on a rolling basis, is part of Expedia Group’s “Open World” strategy for global social impact and sustainability that has a focus on enabling inclusive and accessible travel.
Between 2022 and 2023, the fund awarded grants to All Wheels Up, Array Alliance, Birthright Africa, Boyz N The Wood, Disability Rights Fund, Cultural Heritage Economic Alliance, Family Holiday Charity, Girls Going Global, Global Glimpse, IGLTA Foundation, Rainbow Railroad, Paralyzed Veterans of America, The National Park Foundation, The Venture Out Project, UnTours Foundation, Too Fly Foundation and World Affairs Council.
