Former Omio executive Yesh Munnangi joined Rome2rio as managing director and CEO in 2020 following Omio’s acquisition of the Melbourne-based company in 2019.
With him he brought along a “user-focused vision” – or, the idea of approaching a problem from what the user actually needs and resolving it in the simplest, easiest way possible.
Speaking in the PhocusWire Studio at Phocuswright Europe, Munnangi explained how the multimodal platform uses data – both online and offline – to solve for complex customer journeys.
“Customers don’t normally want just airport to airport [transportation],” Munnangi said. “But it’s not easy because of fragmentation.”
Speaking with news editor Jill Menze, Munnangi also discussed how consumer preferences and the nature of travel have shifted since the onset of the pandemic, as well as changing perceptions around sustainability and his top priorities in the months ahead.
