When the going gets tough, the tough look to potential new streams of revenue to adapt and survive.
The pandemic gave TourRadar the time to stop and think about how it could grow from a product perspective going forward.
Co-founder and CEO Travis Pittman says the team realized there was a big opportunity to get its B2C adventure tours product into the hands of resellers.
The company sells some 2,500 different tour operators from its B2B marketplace and now makes these available to travel agents and other resellers via its Adventure Booking Platform.
TourRadar has already announced the development of a multi-day adventure booking system for Flight Centre's travel agents.
Speaking in the PhocusWire Studio at the recent Phocuswright Conference, Pittman says the team “put a lot of things on the table,” but B2B sales was seen as the big opportunity.
How big is anyone’s guess, but with multi-day tours mostly sold offline, the opportunity could be greater than B2C.
Pittman goes on to discuss product investment during the pandemic and how multi-day tours fed into the desire from consumers to travel in their own bubbles.
He also talks about the trends that will remain once the pandemic is over.
