Seattle-based Cabana, a hospitality startup with a fleet of high-tech camper vans, has landed $3 million to accelerate its growth across the United States. TechNexus Venture Collaborative led the founding round.
Founded in 2019, the “mobile hotel” company was named a PhocusWire Hot 25 Startup for 2022.
The new funding comes on the heels of expansions into Austin, Texas, and San Francisco. Cabana has also unveiled its newly redesigned two-person camper van, built on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, which includes an indoor kitchen.
The new vans will launch in the Austin market in January, with plans to offer it in additional markets - including San Francisco, Seattle and Los Angeles - over the course of the year. Cabana is preparing to launch the Cabana Quad, a four-person van, in early 2023.

The startup says it will also use the capital from TechNexus to expand its partnership program “to bring unique experiences to cities, residents and travelers across the U.S.”
“Travel and exploration continued to rank high among America’s priorities in 2022, as demonstrated by the 8,177 nights booked with Cabana over the last year,” says Scott Kubly, Cabana founder and CEO.
“We anticipate this desire - to hit the open road and create memorable experiences - to grow as we head into 2023,” Kubly continues. “I’m eager to continue giving others the opportunity to get out and explore.”
In September, the company announced enhancements to its Trip Planning service, enabling guests to get personalized itineraries and recommendations from “regional experts.”
The startup lowers the barrier to entry for travelers craving a high-end “hotel-on-wheels” adventure, says Terry Howerton, co-founder and CEO of TechNexus Venture Collaborative.
The investment in Cabana “brings substantial strategic value to our corporate partners,” Howerton says. “Our team is eager to continue playing a role in Cabana’s growth journey and looks forward to supporting their launch into new markets.”
The company's last funding was a $10 million Series A round in 2021.
