In May, Expedia Group announced an overhaul of the online travel giant’s technology and strategy at the company’s annual Explore partner event.
Among the updates was the introduction of a new technology platform called Open World, which allows Expedia Group partners to pick and choose products and services – such as payments, fraud and conversations – to form a solution tailored to their specific needs.
With the platform, “The sky’s the limit in what’s possible there,” said Ariane Gorin, president of Expedia for Business, speaking during last month’s Phocuswright Europe event.
According to Gorin, Open World not only adds value to Expedia Group’s partners of all sizes, but it also opens up a streamlined path for career development among the company’s employees.
In conversation with Phocuswright Research founder and analyst Lorraine Sileo, Gorin explained how Open World plays a major role in helping unify Expedia Group’s technology and teams. She also discussed the ambitions of its revamped loyalty program, as well as how the company has addressed recent labor shortages.
Additionally, Gorin joined PhocusWire news editor Jill Menze in the PhocusWire Studio to unpack what’s unique about Expedia Group’s new trip-planning features, plus how the company is continuing its diversity and inclusion efforts.
