In early September, Phocuswright published its India
Total Market Report, which provides a comprehensive view of India’s travel
market, including detailed market sizing and projections, distribution trends,
analysis of major travel segments and key developments. Below, PhocusWire dives
deeper into Rakuten India and InterGlobe Technology Quotient.
Rakuten India, the
Rakuten Group’s technology hub, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU)
with India-based InterGlobe Technology
Quotient, a business unit of InterGlobe Enterprises specializing in travel
technology.
The “collaborative arrangement” is the first of its kind between Rakuten India and ITQ. Rakuten says it will be a technology partner to ITQ to help build innovative travel products and solutions using artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality, blockchain and the Internet of Things.
“A post-pandemic world of travel presents newer
opportunities and demands fresh thinking,” says Sandeep Dwivedi, COO at ITQ.
“By joining with a deep tech leader like Rakuten,” Dwivedi says,
“we have a great opportunity to develop and bring to market innovative and
industry-changing solutions that address some of the most pressing needs in our
sector today.”

ITQ and Rakuten will jointly distribute Rakuten SixthSense,
a SaaS platform. ITQ says it has more than 13,000 customers, including travel
management companies, online travel agencies and retail agencies in almost 400 cities.
Sunil Gopinath, CEO and managing director of Rakuten India, says
the partnership is “a unique opportunity for us to not only flex our deep-tech
solutions muscle, but also take our B2B product, SixthSense, to the travel
industry at large.”
