Travelers say technology is key to a great experience on a trip - but to what extent?
Travelport, for the second year running, has produced a major study to look at consumer behavior, and their likes and dislikes when it comes to the travel experience.
At the center of the report is a look at how much technology is influencing those outcomes, with particular emphasis on emerging trends such as artificial intelligence, voice and biometric-enabled interfaces such as touch pay.
The research covers 25 countries and with views from 16,000 travelers.
It also features a league table of the leading nations around the world, based on a combination of the main indicators of using technology to enhance the travel experience.
The ranking for the top four in 2018 is as follows (with the 2017 position in brackets):
- India 1 (1)
- Indonesia 2 (3)
- Brazil 3 (4)
- China 4 (2)
PhocusWire spoke to Travelport's Simon Ferguson and Erika Moore during The Phocuswright Conference to dig deeper into some of the results and what they might mean for the market.
